Sean Adams

Sean Adams seems to have an inordinate amount of energy. I cannot fathom fulfilling all the responsibilities he does. I don't know if that makes me lazy or him a workaholic, all I know is that he work schedule seems insane to me. But, moving onto the point.

The main take away from the video for me was the value of online learning. To me, in person interaction and feedback from a professor is invaluable but, at the same time, I recognize that in person lectures cannot go at a speed that is perfectly cohesive for each student. Online learning is appealing because, as Sean mentioned, it can be paused or fast forwarded as much as need for each individual student. This allows the class to go at just the right speed for each student, but the personal interaction is lacking, even if video chats are included it still is not the same as in person. But what I have never really thought of before was that online learning can allow the work in class to be focused more on developing a personal voice etc etc instead of instruction on how to use the program. Maybe it's a little glimpse into what our education will, or already has begun to, change into.

Margo Chase

I found Margo Chase quite inspiring. The typography she creates, alone, I find amazing. Her lines of filled with expression, which makes me feel admiration. I love how tactile her design process is. I was of the impression that most current working designers do most of their work digitally and I found it exciting to find out this is not so. Work created physically with an artists hand is personal and expressive. While I believe digital work can be so also, I believe work done by hand is more imbued with the creators essence.

Another aspect of Margo Chase's career which interested me was the pursuit of what interested her resulting in, what seems to me to be, a successful career. It seems that everywhere you look there is someone telling you what you need to do to be successful and, while their input may be useful, what they are really telling you is what has worked in their life. I found it encouraging that Margo found a way to meld her passions with work. I believe that the advice of others, especially those who are more experienced than you, should be heeded. I also believe that following your passions reveals your path in life, but doubt easily creeps in and I have to admit it felt good watching the videos about her because it made me feel more sure.
